Actors: Danger! Watch This Now

This isn’t about auditions.

This isn’t about acting technique.

This is about your safety.

And it’s something many actors unknowingly get wrong when submitting to agents or casting directors.

Never Use Your Home Address

When actors submit to agents or casting directors, they often include:

  • Their headshot

  • Resume

  • Contact information

And sometimes…

Their home address.

This is a serious mistake.

When agents receive submissions, they can’t keep everything forever. Eventually, submissions get discarded. And once something goes into the trash, you lose control of where that information ends up.

Anyone who finds it now has:

  • Your photo

  • Your name

  • Your home address

That’s not just unprofessional.

It’s dangerous.

Home Phone Numbers Are Just as Risky

Home phone numbers are easy to search online.

In many cases, someone can simply Google a home phone number and find:

  • Your full address

  • A map of where you live

  • Personal information tied to that number

This kind of information makes it far too easy for strangers to locate you.

Actors must be careful about what personal details they share publicly.

Why This Matters for Actors

Actors regularly send materials to strangers in the industry.

Agents.

Casting directors.

Production companies.

Most people are professional.

But you don’t know who might see your materials after they’ve been discarded or passed around.

Protecting your privacy is part of protecting your career.

The Safer Alternative

Never use your home address when submitting materials.

Instead use:

  • A P.O. Box

  • A business mailing address

  • A safe office address

Even a simple post office box gives you a layer of protection between your professional life and your home.

Think of it as part of your professional setup.

You will not have an acting career if you’re not alive.
