LEVEL I - THE FUNDAMENTALS COURSE sign up

Most actors fail to get the necessary fundamental training needed to sustain a long term career in television commercials. Many actors move to Hollywood, are really excited, start their careers and book several commercials on enthusiasm alone. Eventually this “emotional high” wears off (usually sooner than later) and the actor stops booking, stops getting callbacks, the agent loses interest and stops submitting the actor for auditions. Most actors are lead to believe that as long as they are in a good scene study class they will do just fine in commercials. Nothing could be further from the truth! The approach for auditioning in commercials and TV/Film are completely different. You must get excellent, fundamental commercial training to make long term, “quit your day job” residual income. To get off to an excellent start or even start over, this course if the best step in the right direction. If you’ve read this far you are already on your way to being a big success!

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

» Winning strategies for finding not just an agent but a GREAT AGENT!
» The seldom taught, correct approach to slating and personality interviewing.
» How to read commercial copy. It’s completely different than TV/Film copy.
» How to feel “comfortable in your own skin” in front of the camera and producers.
» How to stand out in auditions while performing with difficult actors.
» How to think and do quickly in Improv situations.
» The photographs casting directors actually use to cast with and how to take them.
» How to “make the cut” after you shoot the job and stay off the editing room floor.
» Veterans, BREAK THE SPELL OF NOT HAVING BOOKED IN YEARS!

interviews, group improv, male/female partner exercises. Actors get up
work 2-3 times a night.

OTHER IMPORTANT TOPICS YOU WILL LEARN:

  • How to avoid 28 of the most common mistakes actors make on their resumes.
  • SAG vs. ATA agents. Who they are, the difference between them and how knowing the difference can affect you.
  • The reason most referrals from friends to better agents fall apart and how to avoid this costly mistake.
  • How to avoid wasting hundreds of dollars on photography and reproduction fees by taking the right headshot the first time you shoot (or the next time for most).
  • A simple technique that virtually guarantees that your 8 x 10’s and postcards will end up on the casting directors desk and not in the trash can.
  • The reason SAG will not give you all of the information needed about Financial Core. Our resource gives you all the details to make the best informed decision.
  • The #1 mistake most actors make when entering the audition room.
  • How to develop rapport with other actors before entering the audition room, increasing your callback ratio.
  • How to effectively deal with the emotional and psychological blocks most actors
experience when in auditioning for producers and directors.
  • The #1 mistake many actors make just before leaving the audition room.
  • Mistakes principal actors make on the set that land them on the editing room floor.
  • Strategies revealed on how to “work the set” and be remembered by producers and directors for more commercial bookings with them in the future.
  • The critical information form on job sets that most actors fail to take home with them. Without it you may not get paid (And it’s not the signed contract!).
  • What casting directors expect from the actor after they’ve booked them on a commercial that most actors are not even aware of. Not doing this simple action could cost an actor their relationship with a casting director.
  • HOW MUCH MONEY YOU CAN ACTUALLY MAKE DOING COMMERCIALS! The difference between a Network National, National, Wildspot, Regional, Industrial and Internet and the opportunities to make thousands of dollars in residual income.
Each class consists of 2 hours of on-camera work and 1 hour of lecture. All exercises are recorded each week. Each student will receive a workbook and videotape in week 1.
